Where Is It Written That The Israelites Would Lose Their Identity?

Lost identity.  Is this a scriptural fact, or a myth perpetuated by “black” and “white” wannabee Israelite groups?  This is a fair question which deserves a fair answer.  Let us start with common sense.  If all twelve tribes of Israel are identifiable today in their entirety, then where are they?  Why aren’t they counted in the census of the nations of the world?  Why does the world only refer to those who they think are the children of Israel as “Jews”?  Let us look into the scriptures for some clues.

“I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:  were it not that I feared the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and Yahuah hath not done all this.” ( Deut. 32:26, 27; emphasis mine )

What the Most High is saying here is that He will do these things to the children of Yisrael, yet not totally and completely.  We know this because He indeed has scattered Yisrael, yet He shall regather them.  Likewise, He has caused their remembrance to cease from among men, yet He shall bring them back into remembrance.  We are living in the time where the remembrance of Yisrael, for the most part, has ceased from among men.

In order for the remembrance of a nation of people to cease from among men, they would either have to be exterminated, geographically isolated, or mistook for another people.  We know that the former two situations are not the case, for the scriptures tell us that Yisrael will be scattered “among all people” ( Deut. 28:64 ), and be in their “enemies’ lands” ( Lev. 26:39 )  in the last days.

The scriptures also tell us that Yisrael would become “a byword among all nations.” ( Deut. 28:37 ).  Rather than being known by nationality like the Germans, Japanese, Ethiopians, Iraqis, etc., the children of Yisrael today are know by bywords such as “blacks/Negroes”, “coloreds”, and even worse, “niggers”, “coons”, etc.  If you ask most Yisraelites in the United States what their nationality is, they would answer “African-American“, which is extremely vague, for Africa is a continent of over 50 countries.  Not only has their remembrance ceased from among men, but also from among themselves.

“Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel:  behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost:  we are cut off for our parts.” ( Ezek. 37:11; emphasis mine )

In this prophecy, we see that the “whole house of Israel” would be “cut off”, not just the northern 10 tribes.  Furthermore, the scriptures tell us that nations in times past have conspired against the children of Yisrael to “cut them off from being a nation: that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.” ( Ps. 83:4 )  Yes, there are Yisraelites who have retained their national identity over the centuries, but they are the exception and not the rule.

So the answer is “Yes”, it is a scriptural fact the children of Yisrael, for the most part, have been put out of the remembrance of men, and even themselves.  They will not be generally acknowledged by men as the children of Yisrael until all things are restored in the kingdom age ( Isa. 61:9 ).
